I had an annoying problem while working on a new WordPress site for a client. When I tried to load the site into multiple browsers to test compatibility, the page loaded unbearably slow if it loaded at all. In order to troubleshoot the issue, as with most WordPress issues, I completely disabled all the plugins on the site.

One by one, I reactivated each plugin and tested the loading time in the different browsers. The problem came down to a plugin for Google Maps called Comprehensive Google Map Plugin. As soon as I disabled the plugin the load time returned to normal and everything went well.

So, I took a screenshot of the Google Maps and inserted the picture in the place of the Google Maps Widget.

Problem solved.
