How to Build Google Sitemap for Your WordPress Site
One of the things you’ll want to do for your blog or website is to create a
sitemap and submit it to the search engines. If you use WordPress, you can
follow along with the steps below to download a plug-in and create a Google
sitemap.

To Manually install the plugin:
- Download the Google (XML) Sitemaps Generator plugin for WordPress to your computer
- Unzip the folder to your computer, its easiest to place it on your desktop
but you can unzip the folder called google-sitemap-generator anywhere you
like. -
- Open your FTP program, log into your domain where wordpress is installed.
You have your own domain for your blog, right? If not, you should invest in a
domain for your blog. -
- Transfer the google-sitemap-generator folder from your computer to the
wp-content/plugins folder in wordpress. -
To Automatically Install the plugin:
- Go into the plugins section of your WordPress site
- Click Add New
- In the Search box, type GOOGLE XML SITEMAP and click Search
- Click Install under the Google XML Sitemap plugin
Now complete the installation by following these steps:
- Log into your WordPress Admin interface, click on Plugins and Activate
the Google Sitemap plugin - Click on Settings in the WordPress Admin interface, then click on
XML-Sitemap - Scroll down and click on Rebuild sitemap. You should now have a sitemap
that is ready to be used by the search engines, AND it should be automatically
crawled by the search engines.
